A study tour for students of performing arts
This 14 day tour specifically designed for students of theatre, drama and dance, develops students’ skills with a range of workshops, led by some of the world’s leading practitioners. The program also includes several performances offering students a diverse range of material for interpretation, discussion and appreciation. The tour begins in New York where students will attend dance and theatre classes at leading institutions. Dancers will attend private classes with the renowned Alvin Ailey students while drama students study the Stella Adler technique and take other workshops at the Broadway Classroom. In Los Angeles, dance students undertake classes at the Edge Center while drama students experience on-camera acting under the guidance of the Margie Haber Studio. There is also the opportunity to participate in a workshop or performance at Disneyland. The tour also provides students with time to explore and experience America’s two largest and most vibrant cities.
Summary itinerary and highlights
- Day 1: Depart Australia. Arrive in New York the same day.
- Day 2: New York. Dance students attend Alvin Ailey Studios and the Dance Theatre of Harlem for workshops. Drama students have workshops at Stella Adler Studios and Broadway Classroom. See a performance at 59E59 Theaters, Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater Harlem and attend a major Broadway musical. Enjoy some of New York’s highlights, including a Circle Line cruise, tour of the Lincoln Center, NBC studios and ‘Top of the Rock’.
- Day 9: Los Angeles. Drama students participate in an ‘acting for film’ workshop with renowned practitioner, Margie Haber. Dance students will have a private class at The Edge Center for Performing Arts. Tour the Warner Bros Studios, visit Disneyland and Santa Monica Pier. See a production at one of LA’s leading theatres.
- Day 12-14: Depart LA, on flight, crossing the International Date Line and arrive Australia.
